Raise a Stein at Oktoberfest Events

by Frisco STYLE
in Arts+Entertainment
The first of two Oktoberfest events scheduled this year in Frisco’s downtown area is set for Sept. 18.
Hosted by Imagine Park, the event will feature beer samplings and live music, among other activities.
Open to those age 21 and older, the event is scheduled from 3-9 p.m. near the historic Ford Building, at 6990 Main St., in downtown Frisco. With each entry ticket, attendees will also receive samples of 10 beers that are on the roster.
The first 100 people will receive a free beer stein from local retailer Tumbleweed TexStyles. A variety of food items and beverages, courtesy of local eatery Didi’s Downtown, will be available for purchase.
Live music performances are set to kick off at 3 p.m. with singer-songwriter and guitarist Mick Tinsley, followed at 6 p.m. by keyboardist Rockin’ Reverend Rick Mcoy.
Tickets to Imagine Park’s Oktoberfest event are $30 in advance (available at www.eventbrite.com/e/imagine-parks-octoberfest-tickets-166330241229) or $45 at the gate.
Meanwhile, the event known as Frisco Oktoberfest is scheduled from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Oct. 2 and noon-5 p.m. Oct. 3 at Frisco Square, 8843 Coleman Blvd.
Festivities are set to commence with an opening ceremony featuring a traditional keg tapping. The contents of said keg will be served free of charge to attendees until it is tapped out.
A bier stein holding contest, brat-eating contest, keg-rolling and beir stein races, as well as a Mr. and Mrs. Oktoberfest contest, are among the activities planned.
A variety of beers and authentic-style foods will be available for purchase during the event, which will also feature live performances by the groups the Alpine Village Band, Texanischer Schuhplattler Verein d'Holzar Dancers, accordionist Nick Ballarini and The Royal Klobasneks, among others.
