From Golf to Gourmet, Experience Frisco’s Newest luxe Resort
By Allie Spletter
For many, summertime means packing up and heading to tropical paradises and sometimes even summer mountain getaways, but for some, summer ball, camps, and life, in general, keep those vacation dreams from becoming a reality. If you fall in the latter, no fear! Frisco is known for having it all, and it’s now home to one of the most popular and premier resorts in the area, which means your staycation can officially begin.
The Omni PGA Frisco Resort gives Frisco residents a unique opportunity for a luxurious getaway without the hassle of extensive travel. Located conveniently in the northern sector of Frisco’s booming Fields development, this resort transports guests from the hustle and bustle of daily life, offering the perfect blend of relaxation, recreation, and a plethora of unique dining options, making it an ideal spot for a getaway close to home.
Its location makes it truly ideal as it eliminates the need for extended travel times, flights, or extensive planning, which means you can transition from your daily routine to vacation mode in a matter of minutes. The ease of access makes it perfect for a spontaneous weekend getaway or a carefully planned staycation. Whether you’re a golf enthusiast, a foodie, or simply looking to unwind, this resort truly has something for everyone.
Though there is much development still ongoing around the resort, upon arrival, it’s almost immediately apparent that the Omni PGA Resort is not just another Omni property. While it is technically an Omni and has all of the signature Omni “things” like a Mokara Spa (oh my goodness, the spa!), it has a distinct, fresh, and inviting personality that is unique to this specific location, and the topography of the property and surrounding areas is almost reminiscent of the Texas Hill Country.
With a stunning lobby boasting a mixture of luxurious and upscale comfort and 500 thoughtfully appointed guestrooms and suites designed to provide maximum relaxation with plenty of style, it’s evident that guests are invited to do as little or as much as they please during their stay. Each of the resort’s distinctive guest rooms and suites feature subtle nods to both the game of golf and Texas culture. From the warm tartan patterns featured on wall coverings and thoughtfully designed carpets to the custom-designed oak cabinets and spectacular views of the lush fairways, these hotel rooms make the ideal retreat.
During our stay at The Omni PGA Resort, my husband and I had the pleasure of residing in a Fairway View 1-bedroom suite, and the attention to detail and quality of amenities were second to none, complete with a lavish yet inviting atmosphere. From plush bathrobes to the impeccably designed interior featuring a blend of textures and colors, every aspect of this spacious suite radiated comfort and sophistication.
Every detail, from the meticulously curated artwork adorning the walls to the intricate wallpaper patterns, spoke of a design ethos that seamlessly merged upscale and modern charm with contemporary elegance. The bathroom was a true sanctuary of indulgence, with a huge freestanding tub, marble countertops adorned with golden fixtures, and an incredibly spacious shower that exuded an air of understated luxury. Oh, and the best part? The sweeping views off of the expansive balcony!
For an even more exclusive experience, guests can opt for one of the resort’s ten flawlessly designed private ranch houses villas that feature four bedrooms, including a generous open floor plan with oak ceiling beams, an open-air porch, and a hand-chiseled fireplace. The resort’s accommodations cater to all types of travelers, from families needing connecting rooms to couples seeking a romantic retreat in a Fairway Suite.
Golfing Excellence, Entertainment, and True Relaxation
The aesthetics and layout of the property are as well-thought-out as the design aspects are and offer a little something for everyone, including shops, bars, restaurants, extensive views, and outdoor recreation options.
At the core of Omni PGA Frisco Resort is its dedication to the sport of golf (even down to those subtle nods to the game in the décor of the resort). The resort features two 18-hole championship courses designed by renowned architects Gil Hanse and Beau Welling. Fields Ranch offers a challenging yet enjoyable experience for golfers of all skill levels. The resort also provides a 2-acre putting course, The Dance Floor, and a cutting-edge golf academy for those looking to refine their skills.
A significant aspect of all of the golf offerings at Omni PGA is that while registered hotel guests can book up to 120 days in advance, Frisco residents can book up to ten days in advance, and the public can book up to seven days in advance. Golf enthusiasts can even continue the fun after dark at The Swing, a lighted 10-hole, par-3 short course, a unique feature that allows players to enjoy the game well into the evening, creating a truly one-of-a-kind golfing experience.
Beyond golf, Omni PGA Frisco Resort offers a plethora of recreational activities to keep guests entertained. The resort features four swimming pools, including an adults-only rooftop infinity pool with stunning views and a serene atmosphere. Families can enjoy the expansive family pool area with a splash pad for the little ones.
For ultimate relaxation, guests can indulge in rejuvenating treatments at Mokara Spa. The spa offers a range of services, from massages to facials, all designed to pamper and revitalize. The spa’s tranquil environment ensures a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life. It’s an oasis within the resort with amenities that only enhance the whole experience, including the hydrotherapy area, which includes an infrared sauna, steam room, and Vitality spa pool. You also have access to the co-ed meditation lounge, the exclusive Green Cactus Cafe, and the Spa pool. (Frisco residents, don’t forget to ask about their spa discount for locals!)
With 13 dining destinations, The Omni PGA Frisco Resort caters to every palate. From fine dining to casual eateries, each restaurant provides a distinct atmosphere and menu. Highlights include Trick Rider, known for its inventive Texan cuisine and a sophisticated dining experience with dishes that highlight local flavors and ingredients; The Apron, an elegant restaurant serving contemporary American cuisine and seasonal dishes; and the Ryder Cup Grille, a great spot for a casual meal, offering comfort foods and classic American favorites.
During our stay, we had incredible meals at The Apron and Ryder Cup Grille, and we can’t wait to go back to try any and all of the others. (Helpful hint: the restaurants are open to the public as well, so head on out for a family night or date night, and you’ll absolutely find something you love!)
The Omni PGA Resort truly keeps the guest in mind as it has daily and weekly events and a robust special programming schedule sure to make your stay memorable. Mondays and Tuesdays, guests can enjoy Happy Hour at The Apron; Wednesdays feature live music at The Lookout Bar; Thursdays include trinkets & treasures kid’s crafts; Fridays have poolside games and crafts for families, Build-A-Buddy, family movie night in the district, and a s’mores roast & toast, and Saturdays feature morning yoga, poolside games and crafts for families, steel drums at the pool, poolside snow cones, and cookie decorating, to name a few.
At the Monument Realty PGA District (a separate area from the Omni PGA, but very easily walkable from the resort, or there are shuttles!), guests of the resort and visitors alike have their pick of fun activities for both golfers and non-golfers from morning until evening. They can enjoy signature dining and retail options, virtual game experiences, programmed entertainment, and more.
We loved hanging at The Ice House, a modern ranch-style concept incorporating six live-hitting bays at the back of the venue. We walked around the district afterward while enjoying the evening and watching sports on the big screen overlooking The Dance Floor. This area has so much to see and do, so be sure to plan to spend some time in the Monument Realty PGA District during your stay.
The Omni PGA Frisco Resort is more than just a place to stay; it’s a destination that offers an experience for every guest, whether full of fun, relaxation, or golf. With its luxurious accommodations, exceptional amenities, and endless activities, Omni PGA Frisco Resort is the ultimate staycation destination in Texas.
