Appointments Available for Annual Blood Drive

by Frisco STYLE
in Open

The competition at the annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drive, set for July 16 and 17, is sure to be intense.

Eager to ensure that blood is available to patients at area hospitals, Frisco’s Fire and Police Departments are once again hosting the blood drive, which will feature a half-dozen donation stations staffed by Carter BloodCare at locations throughout the city.

Blood use is on the rise this summer, largely due to the pandemic and extended surgery schedules for procedures previously canceled in its wake. These factors have strained the blood supply to levels not seen in three decades.

Individuals must pre-register to donate blood from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on either day of the event.

Friday locations are the Frisco Police Station, 7200 Stonebrook Parkway; Frisco Central Fire Station, 8601 Gary Burns Drive; and The Depot, 6455 Page St. Saturday locations are the Frisco Athletic Center, 5828 Nancy Jane Lane; Frisco Fire Station #7, 330 W. Stonebrook Parkway; and Frisco Fire Station #8, 14700 Rolater Road.

As part of the blood drive, those who preregister and donate during the event will be able to cast a “vote” in support of either the Frisco Police or Frisco Fire Departments. Individuals will also receive an exclusive Battle of the Badges t-shirt.

According to Carter BloodCare, potential donors age 16 or older weighing at least 100 pounds and who are in good health must present a valid state-, school- or U.S. government-issued photo ID at the time of donation.
