Sky-High Strawberry Pie

Try this super-sweet strawberry pie recipe from Frisco Style

Prep Time: 30 minutes

Cook Time: 2 hours

Servings: 6 people

INGREDIENTS

Filling
    r

  • 10 ounce(s) frozen strawberries thawed
  • r

  • 1 cup(s) sugar
  • r

  • 1 cup(s) whipping cream
  • r

  • 2 egg whites
  • r

  • 1 tablespoon(s) lemon juice
  • r

  • 1 pinch salt
  • r

  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) almond extract
  • r

Crust
    r

  • 1 1/2 cup(s) flour
  • r

  • 1 1/2 teaspoon(s) sugar
  • r

  • 2 tablespoon(s) milk
  • r

  • 1 teaspoon(s) salt
  • r

  • 1/2 cup(s) oil
  • r

INSTRUCTIONS

For the Crust
    r

  1. Set your oven to 425°. Put ingredients for the crust into a nine or 10-inch pie plate. br
  2. r

  3. Mix the ingredients with your fingers until crumbly, then pat the mixture firmly into a pan.
  4. r

  5. Bake the crust for 10 minutes. Let it cool on a rack for five minutes, then set it in the freezer while you prepare the filling.
  6. r

For the Filling
    r

  1. Thaw the strawberries.
  2. r

  3. In a bowl, combine the strawberries, sugar, egg whites, lemon juice and salt. Beat ingredients for 15 minutes (or until stiff).
  4. r

  5. Whip the cream with the almond extract. Fold into the berry mix.
  6. r

  7. Mound the filling into the pie shell. Freeze until the pie is firm.
