Dr. Sharolyn K. Dihigo, interviewed in our January article “Raising Thyroid Awareness,” currently works as a nurse practitioner at her company, North Texas Integrative Health and Wellness, where she provides telemedicine services to the entire state of Texas and is a notable professor at the University of Texas in Arlington. In her free time, Dr. Dihigo gives back time to her community as a member and president of the Greater Texas Chapter of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) and loves to attend multiple Texas Husky Rescue Events. She also spends time in Austin to lobby for nurse practitioners at the capitol.
Dr. Dihigo’s educational background consists of a clinical doctorate in nursing which helped her become a family and pediatric nurse practitioner. Not only is she an exceptional nurse, but she is also a distinguished teacher. “I am a Phi Kappa Phi Professor at The University of Texas Arlington (UTA) and have been nominated for the Provost Award for Teaching Excellence several times. I have been awarded Preceptor of the Year and nominated for the Loretta Ford Distinguished Fellow from my professional organizations,” explains Dr. Dihigo.
In her free time, Dr. Dihigo enjoys going to the dog park or walking her three huskies, and when she is in town, she enjoys the vast culture surrounding Frisco. “I love to shop and eat in Frisco! There are so many great places!” In addition to her family, including her spouse, Nick Dihigo, and son who owns his own photography business in Austin, Dr. Dihigo has set her mind to improve the health and wellbeing of others. “My mission is to optimize my patient’s health whether that includes checking to see where they are or guiding them along a journey to restore their health.”
