Big New Frisco!
It’s a moment you’ve all been waiting for … H-E-B is moving to Frisco!
That’s right! News quickly spread early this morning as the Dallas Morning News shared that the San Antonio-based grocer is moving to the North Texas area with two stores, one in Plano and the other right here in Frisco. Projected to open in the fall of 2022, the Frisco H-E-B will be located near the northeast corner of Legacy Drive and Main Street.
The Dallas Morning News reported that Stephen Butt, the president of H-E-B’s Central Market division stated, “We’re excited to say that the time has come for us to bring our flagship H-E-B banner to Dallas-Fort Worth.”
Many Frisconians are also excited and eager to see the chain here in our backyard, including Frisco Mayor Jeff Chenery, who exclusively shared with Frisco STYLE, “We’re thrilled H-E-B plans to open in Frisco in 2022,” said Mayor Jeff Cheney. “This morning we met with company leadership, prior to their announcement. They wanted to introduce themselves and commit to being an active partner in our community. My familiarity with the brand dates back to my college days. Given its popularity, I have no doubts the Frisco store will be a regional destination for our slice of North Texas. For years our residents have been asking, ‘When will H-E-B come to Frisco?’ Today, we got the answer and we couldn’t be more excited!”
What makes H-E-B special, other than their signature bread that my grandfather personally loves, is that it’s a store that was made by Texans for Texans. According to The Dallas Morning News, in 2020, H-E-B “moved ahead of Trader Joe’s to become the top U.S. grocer in the annual Retail Preference Index from data science from Dunnhumby.”
DFW is the largest network in Texas that doesn’t have an H-E-B store, but all of that will change in the next few years.
Welcome to Frisco, H-E-B!
