At UT Southwestern Medical Center, we pride ourselves on delivering the best possible care for our patients, especially newborns and their families.
Our beautifully designed William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital has been ranked the No. 1 hospital in Dallas-Fort Worth for eight consecutive years by U.S. News & World Report.
No matter how complex or common the condition – from pregnancy to menopause and beyond – you can count on UT Southwestern to deliver the expert, compassionate care that has consistently made us No. 1 in North Texas.
We have one of the largest Ob/Gyn departments in the United States, and one of every 270 babies in the nation is born here – which means that every day we deliver 35-55 babies (essentially two kindergarten classrooms’ worth!).
We also provide state-of the-art surgical and nonsurgical care across the spectrum of gynecologic disorders. From comprehensive general care to specialized treatment for infertility, incontinence, and cancer of the female reproductive tract, our physicians specialize in caring for women like you.
General Ob/Gyn Care

Our experienced obstetricians and their teams work closely with each patient every step of the way, beginning with pregnancy planning before conception. We have the experience to address any complications that might interfere with women having a successful pregnancy and a healthy child.
Our general Ob/Gyn care services include:
- Preconception counseling to help women address any health issues before becoming pregnant
- Prenatal care to increase the chances of having a healthy baby
- Prenatal classes and hospital tours at no cost
- Fertility treatment, such as in vitro fertilization
- Specialized care for women with high-risk pregnancy
- Postpartum (after childbirth) care
- Lactation services to support breastfeeding
Our experienced obstetricians, maternity nurses, and other care providers have years of experience in prenatal care to keep mothers and their babies healthy during pregnancy and childbirth.
For women with high-risk pregnancies, we offer specialized maternal-fetal medicine services to manage chronic conditions or problems that develop during pregnancy.
Our maternal-fetal medicine specialists are recognized for their obstetric care and management of women with high-risk pregnancies. If you have a high-risk pregnancy or develop a complication during your pregnancy, we have the expertise and experience to manage tough cases. And we never lose focus on you and your concerns or take for granted the trust you have placed in us to care for you and your baby.
Maternal-Fetal Medicine
A high-risk pregnancy can result from a chronic health condition present before pregnancy, or from a health condition that develops during pregnancy in either the mother or the unborn baby. Maternal-fetal medicine specialists provide care before, during, and after high-risk pregnancies to support mothers and their babies and help provide the best possible start in life.
We’re recognized throughout North Texas for the care and management of women with complicated pregnancies. Our maternal-fetal medicine specialists are available to:
- Provide consultations for women with certain risk factors
- Manage care for moms with complex medical problems, such as congenital heart disease, cancer, or pulmonary hypertension
- Manage care for women whose baby has complex congenital abnormalities
Our team of maternal-fetal medicine specialists works with community obstetricians to evaluate and manage complicated pregnancies. Together with adult and pediatric subspecialists, we coordinate any type of care women and their babies might need.
Should the situation require a complete transfer of care, our maternal-fetal medicine specialists are among the few in Dallas who accept high-risk patients and provide total obstetrical care. We welcome referrals from our community, across Texas, and surrounding states.
Gynecology
UT Southwestern’s experienced gynecologists have years of expertise in evaluating, treating, and managing all types of conditions affecting women’s pelvic organs. Our physicians, nurses, and other providers work closely with each patient to help achieve her best health.
Gynecology is the specialty of medicine for the diagnosis, treatment, and management of conditions that affect the female reproductive organs. Our gynecologists provide care for disorders and injuries affecting the vulva, vagina, cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries.
From well-woman exams to gynecological surgery, we provide experienced, compassionate care to serve each patient’s needs in a friendly and comfortable environment.
In addition to specialists trained in the latest minimally invasive surgery techniques, our physician team includes gynecologists with advanced training in fertility and reproductive medicine, gynecological cancer, pediatric and adolescent gynecology, and urogynecology.
Our pediatric-adolescent gynecologists have advanced training in treating the unique issues that affect the development and anatomy of growing girls and young women. Our physicians take great care to examine and treat girls in a sensitive manner and to address their specific needs. We provide specialized care through a joint effort with Children’s Health in Dallas and Plano.
Gynecologic Oncology
UT Southwestern is ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the nation’s top 25 hospitals for cancer care, and we are rated as “High Performing” in gynecological cancer surgery, placing us among the leading facilities in the U.S. for this procedure.
UT Southwestern offers gynecologic cancer patients access to the latest treatments in a compassionate, modern environment. Our surgeons have special expertise in all aspects of gynecologic cancer surgery, including radical cytoreductive surgery and minimally invasive surgical options for treating all types of gynecologic cancers. Our surgeons use state-of-the-art methods for surgical techniques, such as cancer staging, radical hysterectomy, and radical vulvectomy.
As the only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center in North Texas, we deliver the best gynecologic cancer care available today and push to discover new treatments. NCI designation means we offer patients the ability to participate in the broadest possible range of clinical trials, with access to potential therapies not available at other facilities.
Gynecologic cancer survival and outcomes are improved when cancer treatment is obtained from highly skilled and specialized cancer surgeons. Treating these cancers can be challenging, either because they often aren’t discovered until they are fairly well advanced or because of their surgical and medical complexity. That’s why it’s important to have an experienced gynecologic cancer team fighting for each patient, from diagnosis through treatment and beyond.
At UT Southwestern, our gynecologic cancer specialists are skilled in cancer staging, radical gynecologic cancer surgery, and minimally invasive surgical options. In addition, our experts have access to the most advanced chemotherapies and targeted drugs and use the latest techniques in tissue-sparing radiation therapy.
As an academic medical center, UT Southwestern regularly conducts gynecologic cancer-related clinical trials. These programs give our patients access to the latest medical and surgical treatments. We encourage patients to talk with their doctor about access to clinical trials.
No matter your age or stage in life, UT Southwestern’s obstetricians and gynecologists are here for you and dedicated to your best health.
