Frisco’s Newest Brunch Spot Fuses Family, Flavor, and Atmosphere
By Ashli Urano
Jam + Toast, located at Three Corners Plaza at 12255 University Dr., Frisco, has quickly become a hotspot since recently opening in Frisco. This family-owned restaurant, serving breakfast and lunch, has gained a loyal following from locals and visitors alike. Their extensive breakfast menu features a variety of eggs Benedict, pancakes, and omelets, while lunch includes gourmet salads, sandwiches, and paninis. Owned by Tima and Urim Seferi, along with Zife and Louie Kerimi, the restaurant continues to thrive following the success of its Irving and Las Colinas locations.
To celebrate my husband’s return from an extended business trip, we planned a long, relaxing brunch at Jam + Toast. There’s something special about turning breakfast into brunch that makes the world a better place. Not only is it a socially acceptable excuse to have champagne before noon, but brunch also brings people together in a magical way. Since my husband was driving directly from the airport to the restaurant, I arrived early to choose our table while becoming more familiar with the menu.
The wall to the left of the entryway is adorned with artificial greenery, featuring a glowing neon sign with the restaurant’s name, framed with light wood paneling. Below the sign, a wooden nook with cushions provides a perfect spot for post-brunch photos. As I followed the hostess to a corner booth near the open kitchen, I noticed the atmosphere seamlessly blended industrial chic with cozy elegance.
Exposed ductwork and black ceiling beams create a sense of openness and modern sophistication, softened by more inviting touches throughout the space. Deep blue booths and light wood tables add warmth, complimenting the room’s cooler hues.
On the side walls, large circular mirrors with black metal frames add depth to the space. Shelves with cascading greenery provide a refreshing pop of color, softening the industrial feel and creating a more welcoming atmosphere. The open kitchen area features decorative green wall panels and stylish pendant lights.
Chandeliers with exposed bulbs, suspended from long black chains, cast a warm, inviting glow over the tables. These simple yet elegant lights enhance the room’s cozy ambiance without overpowering it. Smaller, square-shaped pendant lights highlight specific areas of the restaurant, adding to the overall stylish design.
After being seated, I studied the menu before Jose, our server, recommended trying the peach Bellini. When he returned, I was initially surprised to find the drink was not frozen. However, my confusion quickly ended after taking a sip. Served in a tall glass, the champagne’s crispness perfectly balanced the subtle sweetness of the peach. Regardless of whether it was frozen or not, the peach Bellini was exceptional.
While I was enjoying the surprisingly delicious peach Bellini, I noticed a missed call earlier that morning from my husband. He left a brief voicemail to let me know his connecting flight was delayed, which meant I was officially having brunch alone.
As a food writer, dining alone occasionally happens. While the thought of this might seem boring, it’s an experience that is often underrated. Eating alone means completely soaking in your surroundings while savoring each flavor of your meal - without distractions. I was able to take notes as I tasted each dish and gain a deeper understanding of the restaurant’s interior design. I also noticed that Jose was in charge of at least seven tables at once. There’s nothing better than watching a server make being busy look easy.
Jam + Toast offers several healthy breakfast options for those looking to start their day with wholesome, nutrient-rich dishes. The Steel Cut Oats provide a fiber-filled base while the Apple Pie Oatmeal is topped with warm, cinnamon-spiced apples and candied pecans. Berry-Ola Oatmeal features fresh berries and crunchy granola, while the Banana & Fig Oatmeal offers a combination of fruit and walnuts. Lighter options include the refreshing Berry & Yogurt Parfait, which combines creamy vanilla yogurt with layers of fresh berries and granola for a satisfying, guilt-free treat.
Avocado Toast is always a popular choice, and Jam + Toast’s version is a classic version: thick slices of whole-grain toast topped with creamy avocado, fresh cilantro, and olive oil. The toast is served alongside eggs with a choice of fresh fruit or hash browns. This well-rounded dish offers a balance of healthy fats, protein, and complex carbohydrates to keep you energized throughout the morning.
As I sat at my table, a different server casually walked by to remove an extra menu. Without thinking, I asked if fried eggs were included with the Garden Veggie Skillet. Jose appeared in a flash, ready and willing to answer the question himself. He explained that two eggs, prepared however I’d like, would be placed on top and served with a side of buttermilk pancakes, biscuits, or toast.
I had never considered ordering from the skillet section of a breakfast menu. After seeing Jam + Toast’s Garden Veggie Skillet, this option seemed different than ever before. The skillet’s base of crispy hash browns was topped with a medley of fresh vegetables—mushrooms, baby spinach, red onions, tomatoes, and green peppers—all covered with melted Monterey Jack cheese and topped with fried eggs.
When the skillet was served, cutting into it released a cloud of steam that slightly cooked the spinach before my eyes. It was much more exciting than I ever would have expected. The hash browns provided a satisfying crunch with each bite, while the fresh vegetables had many different flavors and textures.
Each vegetable played a role in offsetting the richness of the Monterey Jack cheese, which melted into a creamy layer underneath the fried eggs. There was a sense of fresh, healthy lightness to the dish even though hash browns can often feel heavy. Accompanied by buttermilk pancakes, lightly dusted with powdered sugar, the Garden Veggie Skillet was an unexpected surprise.
As I continued eating, I found myself avoiding the hashbrowns so I wouldn’t get full. I took a moment to explore the mini drink menu, intrigued by the unique name “It’s Not You, It’s Me.” Before ordering, Jose assured me that the bartender would only add a splash of blueberry syrup. After tasting, the blueberry had a nice, subtle presence, with an even mix of champagne and lemonade.
Jam + Toast’s specialty drinks and beverages complement their menu perfectly. In addition to classic options like mimosas and Bloody Marys, the Espresso Martini provides a sophisticated choice. The restaurant’s Segafredo and cold brew coffee provide a rich and aromatic start to the morning, while fresh-squeezed juices and a selection of teas round out the beverage offerings, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
Jose brought a to-go box to the table for the remaining hash browns, then asked what else I would like to order. I always look at the menu items on a restaurant’s social media before dining out. Jam + Toast’s Berry Bliss Waffle Instagram picture accurately showcases its beautiful presentation. It was picture-perfect when Jose stopped by to deliver it from the kitchen.
Fresh strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries were drizzled with vanilla and a colorful berry glaze. Mascarpone was cleverly spread beneath the berries, ensuring each bite was creamy without overpowering the fresh fruit. The berry glaze elevated the fruit, producing a pop of juicy sweetness. With each bite, I kept finding more mascarpone under random pieces of fruit. It was hard to believe the waffle didn’t need a single drop of syrup. This is a result of the dish’s ingredients coming together, as intended, making it a success.
Jam + Toast does not offer a traditional dessert menu, which is understandable with so many sweet items already available. The Apple Pie French Toast stands out, featuring Granny Smith apples, cinnamon, and candied pecans. Lula’s Crunchy French Toast is another popular choice, dipped in Rice Krispies and topped with caramel sauce.
I knew the Banana Nutella Crepes would be the perfect ending to brunch. Before ordering, I wondered what Jose thought about one person eating three entrees. The chef’s presentation made the dish even more mouth-watering. Thin crepes were topped with chilled banana slices, then drizzled with warm Nutella before being lightly dusted with powdered sugar. The soft, buttery crepes provided a delicate contrast to the rich chocolate flavor of the Nutella, while the chilled bananas sealed the deal. The overall taste was a satisfying sweetness with a hint of cocoa goodness.
Jam + Toast offers a unique dining experience featuring both classic and creative breakfast and lunch dishes. The visually appealing and warm familial atmosphere and attentive service contribute to its popularity and ongoing success. Looking around the dining room, everyone was smiling and laughing, appearing to feel blessed and happy. The sun was shining brightly over Jam + Toast that day. Sometimes, the simplest moments – like enjoying brunch alone – can be unexpectedly fulfilling.
