Austin and Charlie met in 2012 at Watermark Church in Dallas through a mutual friend and have been married for six years. They have lived in Frisco for only six months but shortly after getting married in 2014, they signed a short-term lease for an apartment and fell in love with the city. “We started to work, serve and really invest in this community. We have received a lot of support from this community and we are excited to raise our daughter and two Yorkies here in the city.”
Dr. Austin Wendell is one of the founding partners of VarioHealth, an integrated medical practice here in Frisco. He provides a unique and exemplary quality of care to his patients through his expertise in Functional and Integrative Medicine. When not working, Dr. Wendell spends his time and energy volunteering and sponsoring events around the community. He supports local organizations, like the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Frisco Arts, Camp Craig Allen, Treasured Vessels and, of course, Melody of Hope.
Charlie is the founder and executive director of Melody of Hope (MOH). MOH exists to build and host live music programs for nonprofits in the community that are already making a difference. MOH has been blessed to serve over 40 nonprofits and has built over 150 live music program events at no cost to the organizations since 2013. Charlie currently volunteers with Rotary Club of Frisco as Community Service Chair on the board, is a founding board member of 2talented, a hip-hop non-profit and is the Frisco Arts Governmental Affairs Ambassador.
The foundation of the Wendell’s marriage and family is Jesus. “God has called us to put Him first, then our marriage, then our children in that order. That’s the secret to having a successful marriage. We love to invest in each other and carve out time for date nights. We believe that He has blessed us with everything we have so that we can use those resources, time and skills to be a blessing to others. We fail daily but the Lord has used each of us to help the other.”
